How Much Does CCTV Installation Cost in Hamilton?

Our 2 camera TVT system is From $1,855 incl GST and the 4 camera system is From $2,600 incl GST, supplied and installed. Here is what each package includes.
Working out what CCTV will cost is usually the first question for Hamilton homeowners and business owners. To make that easier, we now offer two installed-from packages: a 2 camera TVT system and a 4 camera TVT system, both supplied and installed with GST included. This guide explains exactly what each package covers, why the systems use wired PoE cameras and local recording, and what can change the final price for your property.
Two Installed-From CCTV Packages for Hamilton
Both packages are supplied and installed by 2E Electrical. Each one includes the recorder, the cameras, the hard drive, CAT5/6 camera cabling, the wired connection from the recorder to your modem or router, and standard installation and system setup. The difference between them is the number of cameras.
2 Camera TVT CCTV System — From $1,855 incl GST
Kit code: TVT-4CHNVR-2CAMKIT-AI-6MP

This is a practical starting point for a standard property where you want to cover the most important entry points, such as the front entrance and driveway. It includes:
- TVT 4-channel NVR recording system
- 2 × 6MP PoE AI cameras
- 2TB hard drive
- CAT5/6 camera cabling
- Wired connection from the NVR to the customer's modem/router
- Standard installation and system setup
4 Camera TVT CCTV System — From $2,600 incl GST
Kit code: TVT-4CHNVRKIT-AI-6MP

Where there are more areas to monitor, such as a second entrance, side access or a rear yard, the 4 camera package provides broader coverage from the same recorder. It includes:
- TVT 4-channel NVR recording system
- 4 × 6MP PoE AI cameras
- 2TB hard drive
- CAT5/6 camera cabling
- Wired connection from the NVR to the customer's modem/router
- Standard installation and system setup
Prices are based on a standard installation and include GST. Final pricing is subject to site assessment. Additional charges may apply for extended cable runs, difficult access, additional network equipment or non-standard installation requirements.
What a Standard Installation Covers
The included installation covers mounting the cameras in standard locations, running CAT5/6 cabling to each camera, installing and configuring the NVR, connecting the recorder to your modem or router, and setting the system up so it records correctly. We also show you how to view your cameras and footage before we leave.
A standard installation assumes reasonably accessible mounting positions and a normal cable route from the recorder to each camera. It is worth walking around your property before requesting a quote and noting where you would like cameras, how easy those positions are to reach, and where your modem or router sits. That information helps an installer give you an accurate picture of whether your job fits the standard scope.
Why These Packages Use Wired PoE Cameras
Both systems use PoE, or Power over Ethernet, cameras. A single CAT5/6 cable carries both power and video to each camera, which means there is no separate power point needed at the camera location. That is a significant practical advantage on a New Zealand home or business, where running a new power circuit to an eave or fence line can be more disruptive than running a data cable.
PoE cameras also do not depend on Wi-Fi signal. That matters outdoors, where walls, cladding, distance and interference can all affect a wireless connection, and it means the camera is not competing with phones, televisions and other devices for wireless bandwidth. A cabled connection is fixed once it is installed, so reliability does not change as your household's Wi-Fi usage grows.
This is also why wired systems tend to suit long-term installations. Once the cabling is in place, upgrading a camera later usually means swapping the unit rather than rethinking how it connects. You can read more about the difference on our Home CCTV page.
Local Recording on the NVR and 2TB Hard Drive
Both packages record to a network video recorder on site, with a 2TB hard drive included. Footage is stored on your own property rather than depending on a cloud service, so recording continues as long as the recorder has power, even if your internet connection drops.
How far back your footage goes depends on several things: how many cameras are recording, the resolution and frame rate, whether recording is continuous or motion-triggered, and the amount of activity the cameras see. A 2TB drive gives a useful starting point for a 2 or 4 camera system, and recording settings can be adjusted to suit how long you want to keep footage.
Local recording also keeps control of the footage in your hands. Access is managed through the recorder and its user accounts, and you decide who has access. If you need help checking retention or adjusting recording settings later, that is a straightforward conversation with your installer.
Future Expansion: Adding Cameras Later
The 4-channel NVR in both packages leaves room to grow. A 2 camera system can be expanded to four cameras later without replacing the recorder, which makes the smaller package a sensible entry point if you want coverage now and might add more later.
Adding a camera means mounting it, running a cable to the recorder and configuring it in the system, so it is quoted as additional work rather than included in the package price. If you already have an older system and are considering a partial change rather than a full replacement, our CCTV Upgrades service covers additional cameras, replacements and recorder upgrades.
Thinking about expansion early is worthwhile. If you expect to add cameras in a year or two, mention it during the site assessment so cable routes and recorder placement can be planned with that in mind.
What Can Change the Final Price
The installed-from price assumes a standard installation. Several things can move the final figure, and they are the same factors that affect any CCTV job:
- Extended cable runs. A camera on a detached garage, a shed or a long driveway needs more cable and more labour than one close to the recorder.
- Difficult access. High mounting points, steep sections, tight roof spaces or restricted access all take longer to work in safely.
- Additional network equipment. Some properties need extra networking equipment to connect the recorder reliably.
- Non-standard installation requirements. Unusual building construction, extra trenching, conduit or other site-specific work falls outside the standard scope.
We assess the site before confirming a price, so you know what applies to your property before any work begins. There are no hidden extras once the scope is agreed.
Requesting a Quote
